Blanquette is a typical French dish that many of us love! While it’s traditionally made with veal, I’ve decided to prepare it with poultry for this recipe. In fact, I recently wrote an article on how to alleviate baby colic through nutrition, and turkey blanquette, with its ingredients like carrot, rice, and poultry, can truly provide relief.
Turkey blanquette recipe for babies (from 6 months)
Blanquette is usually a saucy dish, but today we’ll make it as a puree for baby. From 6 months, your little one can enjoy it!
Carrot, rich in vitamins and loved by babies, will be our main ingredient. We’ll add a small potato to create a smooth and creamy consistency. Mushrooms will be blended with a bit of fresh cream… but I won’t reveal everything just yet. Let’s dive into the recipe!
Here’s what you’ll need to prepare this turkey blanquette recipe for babies (From 6 months, makes 2 portions of 7 oz (2 portions of 200g)):
- 7 oz carrots (peeled) (200g)
- 1.8 oz potato (peeled) (50g)
- 3.2 oz button mushrooms (90g)
- 0.5 oz rice (uncooked) (15g)
- 1 oz turkey fillet (adjust quantity based on age) (30g)
- 2 teaspoons of fresh cream

Next, let’s focus on the carrots. Wash, peel, and cut them into thin slices (about 0.5mm thick for quick cooking).

While the vegetables cook, let’s handle the button mushrooms. Rinse them under running water, remove the stems, peel the top layer of the cap, and slice them.

Now, let’s take care of the turkey. Cut it into small 1.5cm cubes.

Once everything is cooked, including the rice, here’s what you can do:
- For a 6-month-old baby: Blend everything into a smooth puree, adding some vegetable cooking water gradually until you reach the desired consistency. Don’t forget to add the fresh cream.
- From 8 months onwards, only if your baby is ready for some texture: Blend the carrot and potato into a fine puree separately, and blend the mushrooms, turkey, and cream together. This way, you’ll have a textured puree with smooth carrot and potato, mushrooms, meat, and rice.
Your turkey blanquette recipe for baby is now complete, and your little one can enjoy it!
Bon appétit, baby!
