Recipe steps
Today we are going to prepare a nuggets recipe for babies, also perfect for the whole family!
Nuggets for baby and the whole family
Who can resist these crispy and golden little bites? Kids, parents, and even grandparents love them! Of course, for the sake of convenience, we often opt for store-bought nuggets. However, the problem often lies in the ingredients, preservatives, as well as the taste and texture…
So, picture this: pieces of chicken, coated in a crispy and golden breading, cooked to perfection. Not only is it delicious, but it’s also an excellent way to control the ingredients and ensure healthy meals for the whole family.
So, how about we make some delicious chicken nuggets together? You can add your favorite spices, which is always a plus; you can even add some aromatic herbs if you like. You can prepare them in advance and freeze them, allowing you to finish cooking them at the last minute.
Serve them with some homemade baby ketchup, a delight 😉
So, here’s what you’ll need for approximately 20 beautiful nuggets:
Ingredients
- 500g of chicken breast
- 150g of flour
- 2 tablespoons of sweet paprika (or spice of your choice)
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- 1 teaspoon of pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder or baking soda
- About 17cl of sparkling water
- Neutral oil for cooking
Preparation
We start by finely mincing the chicken using a food processor. You should obtain a kind of paste.
Transfer to a bowl, and add half of the sweet paprika (1 tablespoon), half of the salt (1 teaspoon), and half of the pepper (1/2 teaspoon). Mix well; don’t hesitate to get your hands dirty 😉
Next, we shape the chicken nuggets and place them on parchment paper, a plate… which we can then put in the freezer for 30 minutes once all the nuggets are formed. If the dough sticks to your hands when forming the nuggets, don’t hesitate to lightly oil your hands.
In a bowl, mix the flour with the other half of the ingredients (sweet paprika, salt, and pepper) as well as the baking powder.
Remove the nuggets from the freezer and coat each one in this flour and spice mixture.
With the remaining flour/spice mixture in the bowl, we make a liquid (but thick) batter by adding 17cl of sparkling water. Mix well.
Cooking
Now, it’s time to cook the nuggets. Heat enough oil in a pan (don’t hesitate to use your deep fryer if you have one) for a few minutes so that we can immerse our nuggets. (I use less oil by using a small saucepan and cook them 5 at a time ;)).
Once the oil is hot, it’s time to go: coat the nuggets in the liquid batter and immediately dip them (I use chopsticks to coat and dip them into the oil).
Allow about 3 minutes of cooking per nugget (if you plan to freeze them, allow only 1 minute of cooking. You can finish cooking them later without overcooking them. I often prepare them the day before and place them in the refrigerator. I simply dip them in the oil for 2 minutes the next day!).
They should be golden brown but, more importantly, well-cooked through, so don’t hesitate to cut them to check the chicken’s doneness, especially for the first chicken nuggets.
Once cooked, place them on a plate lined with paper towels. Let them cool for a few minutes before serving them to the baby to prevent burns!

Storage
Once the chicken nuggets are prepared, let them cool to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Refrigerator: You can store the chicken nuggets in the refrigerator for a maximum of 2 days.
- Freezer: If you want to store them longer, you can freeze them. Don’t hesitate to precook them for only one minute before freezing. You will then be able to finish cooking them later without overcooking them!
