Recipe Steps
Today, I felt like sharing with you an easy and quick recipe, and this broccoli macaroni and cheese gratin is one of our staple recipes at home… the choice was easy!
We all know that children, babies, and adults, of course, love pasta! So why not prepare pasta with vegetables? And broccoli goes very well with it, it’s just perfect! (To see all the pasta recipes for babies and the whole family, click here 😉
To season this macaroni gratin, a good onion cream, super easy and quick to prepare. And to make it cheesy, a bit of cheddar, delicious!
Here’s what you need to make this Broccoli Macaroni and Cheese Gratin with Onion Cream and Cheddar for babies and the whole family (from 18 months, serves 2 adults and 2 children):
Ingredients
- 1 broccoli head
- Approximately 10.5 oz (300g) of macaroni (for hearty eaters!)
- 1 onion
- 4 tablespoons of thick sour cream
- Approximately 1.4 oz (40g) of grated cheddar
- Salt and pepper (for adult servings, introduce salt from 12 months, hold off on pepper for now!)
Preparation
Start by steaming the previously washed and cut broccoli into florets (small broccoli florets) for 8 to 10 minutes. It should be tender but not overcooked.
Meanwhile, cook the macaroni (obviously, if you don’t have macaroni, you can use other types of pasta that both babies and the whole family will love!).
In a skillet, sauté the minced onion in a little oil for a few minutes, stirring regularly, until it becomes translucent.
Add the sour cream and mix well. If needed, add a little water to obtain a lighter consistency, or use liquid sour cream.
In an oven-proof dish, place the cooked macaroni, add the onion cream, and mix. Then, add the broccoli florets and finish by sprinkling the dish with cheddar.
Cooking
Put it under the broiler in the oven until the cheese is melted and nicely browned, making sure to keep an eye on it.
