Today, we’re introducing beef into baby’s diet. Previously, we started with lean white meats (chicken, turkey, veal) at 6 months. At 7 months, we can add beef, following daily portion sizes. It’s important to cook the meat well to avoid any unnecessary illnesses.
I personally prefer dry cooking without oil in a skillet for a few minutes. I chose vacuum-sealed ground beef for added safety. September is still eggplant season, so let’s take advantage of it! Eggplant is rich in nutrients, vitamins, and fiber, making it perfect for baby. Remember to remove the skin for better digestion. And finally, The Laughing cow® cheese… Kids love it! It adds a creamy touch to the puree, and we can occasionally give it to baby without any worries. Here’s what you’ll need for this eggplant, ground beef, and La Vache Qui Rit® purée (3 servings):
- [adinserter block="11"]
- - 14.8 oz eggplant (450g)
- - 1.1 oz ground beef (30g)
- - 1 portion of La Vache Qui Rit® cheese
- - 3 teaspoons of olive oil
Start by thoroughly washing the eggplant. Choose one that is shiny and fresh. Remove the stem and peel, making sure to remove all the skin. Cut it in half and try to remove as many seeds as possible (they can be less digestible). If some seeds remain, it’s not a big issue. Cut the eggplant into small pieces.
My eggplant cooked in the Cookeo for 8 minutes under pressure. If steaming, allow 15 minutes. Make sure it is tender when cooking is complete.
While the eggplant is cooking, heat the ground beef in a skillet over low/medium heat without any added fat for about 5 minutes. Ensure it’s well cooked.
Place the cooked eggplant in a blender, add the portion of La Vache Qui Rit®, the cooked ground beef, and the 3 teaspoons of olive oil. At 7 months, we want to maintain some texture, so don’t blend the puree too smoothly. At 8 months, you can even leave some small pieces. The blending speed plays a role here: use a lower speed for chunkier texture and a higher speed for a smoother consistency, depending on your preference.
