Today, I decided to cook a chili con carne. I love this dish, but of course, I had to adapt it for Alix because a dish that is too spicy doesn’t work, and that’s perfectly normal! Green Bean Chili Con Carne Recipe for Babies (From 12 months)
This recipe is ideal for children who are starting to eat on their own with a spoon, especially for those who enjoy having pieces to chew on! The tomato puree acts as a binder and helps make the dish easier to swallow and less dry. If your baby is not yet comfortable with pieces in this type of preparation, wait a bit, there’s no rush! We serve this chili con carne with rice. It’s a warm dish that is perfect for the whole family, so don’t hesitate to prepare it in large quantities!
Corn, tomato, green beans, rice, meat… we have everything we need for a complete dish for the baby 🙂 I even add a bit of cheddar cheese at the end because my little gourmand at home loves it (and we know who she takes after…^^)
Here’s what you need to cook this green bean chili con carne recipe for babies (From 12 months, for 1 serving):

- - 3 tbsp ground beef (20g)
- - 0.35 oz onion (10g)
- - 4 oz tomato puree (120ml)
- - 0.88 oz corn (25g)
- - 0.88 oz green beans (25g)
- - 0.7 oz uncooked rice (20g)
- - 1 pinch of cheddar cheese
- - 1 tsp olive oil
We start with our green beans. We wash them, remove the stems, and steam them for 8 minutes.
We cook the rice. I like to add some extra cooking time so that the rice absorbs enough water and isn’t too dry, making it easier for the baby to chew! I also like to cook it at the same time as my steamed vegetables, using the same cooking water. It’s eco-friendly, cost-effective, and allows the rice to soak up the nutrients from the vegetables that end up in the cooking water.
Meanwhile, we take care of our onion. We peel it and then thinly slice 0.35 oz of it. We heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan and sauté our onion for about one to two minutes.
We add the meat to our pan and brown it for 1 to 2 minutes as well. We don’t want it to be too dry either!
Next, we add our tomato puree and mix everything together. We let it simmer on low heat.
Next, we add the corn to the pan, mix it in, and continue cooking over low heat for a few minutes.
Once our green beans are cooked, we cut them into small pieces and add them to our pan.
Off the heat, we add a teaspoon of olive oil, mix it in, and then pour the chili con carne mixture over the previously cooked rice. We sprinkle a pinch of grated cheddar on top, and voila:
It’s ready!
Ideally served for lunch, and the whole family can enjoy it by scaling up the quantities 😉
